Rosemary was all about broccoli last night, amazingly. The girl has refused to eat vegetables (besides french fries, of course) for MONTHS. At first she also wouldn’t eat fruit, but for the last couple months it’s just most fruit. So last night was a Big Deal. Then she tried to ruin it by refusing to go to bed for an hour and a half past bedtime, for the 4th night in a row. How am I supposed to watch RuPaul’s Drag Race in peace with a tired yet faking it toddler destroying the living room?
Anyway, it’s amazing how many different types of ‘that parent’ you swear you’ll never be, only to realize you get no choice. I imagined cooking from scratch all-organic gourmet meals to give my daughter a global palette. Then I went back to work. But even if I did have the ability to cook all her meals every day, I know that’s no guarantee she would eat any of it. It’s weird, a lot of what she objects to is the texture of food, not the flavor, but if I give her anything that looks like baby food (even wonderful mashed potatoes) she totally balks. So yeah, my kid eats gross, but it may be getting better. At least she likes drinking water versus being a juice-junkie.
